Note: This is an “Avant les Lettres” poster which was made for the opening of the new Foundation on the 10th June 1975. It was signed and dedicated by Miro to Ines and Gerald Cramer 2 days later. Gerald Cramer (1916 - 1991) was a considerable figure amongst Art Dealers in the Post War Period publishing prints and illustrated books in Geneva. He dealt in all the Greatest names of the period. His son, Patrick, is the author of numerous Catalogues of especial note being those of Miro, Chagall, Braque, Max Ernst and Henry Moore. His best-known limited edition publication was Miro's "A Toute Epreuve" 1948, a suite of etchings by the artist with text by Paul Eluard, considered by connoisseurs one of the most beautiful books in 20th-century art. He was on especially good terms with Joan Miro as can be seen by this affectionate dedication.

Provenance: Patrick Cramer, Galerie Patrick Cramer, Geneva, Switzerland (The son of Gerald and Ines Cramer)
