Note: This work is one of fifty five original gouaches executed to accompany specifically-designed copies of the book Lou Kleplepac (ed), William Scott: Drawings (David Anderson, New York, 1975) Fifty specially-designated copies of the book and the corresponding gouaches were marked I/L to L/L and five marked H.C
The Foundation advised us that they had records and photographs of only a small number of these 55 pieces and did not know where the majority of these are located. Certainly, looking through salesroom records, they don’t seem to come up for auction.
Authentification: The work is recorded inn the William Scott Archives as number 2202. We have a letter from the William Scott Foundation confirming this signed by Lucy Inglis, Secretary: The William Scott Authentification Committee.
