Size: 213 x 258 mms;
Note: This is one is one of fifty five original gouaches executed to accompany specifically-designed copies of the book Lou Kleplepac (ed), William Scott: Drawings (David Anderson, New York, 1975) Fifty specially-designated copies of the book and the corresponding gouaches were marked I/L to L/L and five marked H.C.
The Foundation advised us that they had records and photographs of only a small number of these 55 pieces and did not know where the majority of these are located. Certainly, looking through salesroom records, they don’t seem to come up for auction. They have no record about the works provenance or exhibition history. Probably this is die to the fact that the piece was never exhibited having been in the collection of Walter Moose who kept it for himself.
Authentication: We submitted the work to the William Scott Foundation who authenticated it under archive number 2015. We have the documentation proving this signed by Lucy Inglis, Secretary of the William Scott Authentication Committee.
