Sir Warwick & Lady Fairfax were a very prominent Australian family who housed their famous art collection in Faiwater House, Sydney. It was a scene of great social activit. Warwick took over the family’s publishing business following the death of his father in 1930. Warwick visited Europe during the 1940’s occasionally buying art. It was, however, after his marriage to Marry that the art collection really expanded. They owned at least three watercolours by Raoul Dufy of which this is a fine example.
