Note: The relationship between an artist or sculptor and a model was an extremely important one for Picasso. Not only had many of the women he loved become his models and vice versa, but he was inspired by the model watching the painter create a painting of which she is the subject. He also felt that the act of painting was an extremely sensuous one.

The editioned prints were on Velin d’Auvergne Richard de Bas paper. Our work, however, made before the aciding of the plate, is one of three made on Rives paper. Only one of those was signed (Not ours) . Our work has small margins and we are sure it was made this way because these rare items were not neccesaraily made to the size of the editoned proofs, being, in effect, Trial Proofs.
