Cinq Poésies en Hommage à Georges Braque
Original Lithograph in colours, 1958, on Japon Nacre paper, with full margins signed by the artist in pencil.
Size: Image10.2 x 30.5 cm (4 x 12 in.); Sheet 36.6 x 47.1 cm (14 3/8 x 18 1/2 in.)
Note: Mourlot entitles this piece “La Poete”. Others call it “Cinq Poésies en Hommage à Georges Braque” after the book it illustrated. This was made to illustrate the front cover of a book by Rene Char published by Edwin Engelberts, Geneva in 1958. For the book edition the margins were folded. Our work comes from the signed and numbered edition on Japan paper with full unfolded margins.
The artist made two etchings of this title this being a variation of the other one which was in black and white.
