Note: The artist made numerous iPad drawings of the East Yorkshire landscape en plain air chronicling the transition from winter into summer. “The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011” was a gallery installation at the Royal Academy of Arts, considered by the artist to be a single work of art, including an enormous oil painting and 51 of the Ipad drawings as exhibition prints. Hockney later printed 49 of the drawings in editions of 25 (from which our piece comes) and a group of 12 in a larger size, 93 x 70 inches, in an edition of 10. These were all exhibited at the Royal Academy in 2012.
