Note: This was part of a series of 21 Lithographs Hockney made of his American and British friends published in the Gemini G.E,L 1976 portfolio. Hockney made many drawings and other prints of the same subject. In a candid moment, the artist recently disclosed that despite a string of lovers, the love of his life was “maybe” Gregory Evans, his 62-year-old manager. Hockney and Evans had been lovers for about a decade through the 1970s but have now worked together for 40 years. Evans remains to this day a close friend of Hockney's with the artist including a portrait of Gregory in the 2017 David Hockney RA: 82 Portraits and 1 Still-life exhibition at the Royal Academy.
