Largely by using Picasso’s own words Brassai, Europe’s dean of documentary photography, has drawn a full length, in depth portrait of a great man. PICASSO AND COMPANY (Doubleday, $6-95) incorporates an intellectual and aesthetic history, Braque, Matisse, Malreux, Andre Breton, Dali, Max Jacob, Sartre, Cocteau, all friends of a man who was simply an artist. Preface by Henry Miller - Introduction by Roland Penrose - 57 photographs. FROM; DOUgLAS ANDREWS, DOUBLEDAY 7 CO, 277 PARK AVENUE, N.Y. TA 6-2000”
These photographs were married together for the book. The Brassai photograph, without the Picasso attatched, sold at a recent Christies auction and was dated as circa 1955 and possibly the Picasso is of similar date.
