Andre Brasilier - Pastorale
Original Lithograph, 1978, on Japan Nacre paper, signed by the artist in pencil
Note: This artist, much collected by the Japanese, is commonly connected with two major themes: horses and women with flowers. This is a fine example of the first theme and is of a Japanese subject. Compositionally it is very simple but the effect is rather dramatic.
Literature: Roland Doschka “L’Oeuvre Lithographie 1958 - 1981” Number 121
Size: 540 x 760 mms
Edition: Artists proof. There were 175 proofs on Arches and 150 on Japon paper.
Condition: Never framed, it has been stored flat in a folder, there is a small tab of surface scuffing on the back at the top of the sheet where it was secured to the folder, this doesn't show through. Slight crease upper right and lower right corners, minor, some very light discolouration to the edge of paper lower right although hard to tell that this isn't just the nature of the handmade paper as you can see from the photographs that it is flecked in colour.
