after George Braque - Flying Bird

Etching, 1965, on Grand Velin Arches paper, framed together with two copper plates used in the manufacture of the work

Size: 38 x 28 cms

Edition: There were 250 portfolios published. None of the prints contained were numbered.

Notes: This was published in a portfolio entitled “Le peintres mes amis” which included lithographs, etchings and prints (19 pieces in total)   by Derain, Van Dongen, Dufy, Matisse, Chagall, Carzou, Picasso, Buffet, Miro, Zadkine, Villon, Braque, Vlaminck, Rouault, Pascin and Utrillo. The portfolio had a preface written b y Pierre Brisson. There was a Deluxe edition of just three copies which included the inked copper plates used to make the etchings and, doubtless, our example comes from this source. The plates here are of two different states of the etching. We have seen a gouache of the same subject, a study, sold at The Drouot Auction, Paris.
