Note:  The Duke of Windsor (1894 - 1972), otherwise known as King Edward VIII - the English King who abdicated in order that he might marry Mrs Wallis Simpson. On their first journey to New York Dali and Gala had their first dinner appointment with the Duke of Windsor and his wife Wallis Simpson and as a result of this they became friends. This photograph seems to have been taken at the Lido in Paris at a formal dinner at the opening of the new show, "Pour Vous." and it depicts the Duke and Dali shaking hands with a photographer in the background.
