Edition: This is number 4 out of a lifetime edition of only 11 proofs. There were also 18 proofs, stamped and numbered, made posthumously in 1923 in an edition made by Jean Callac. A further edition was made by the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, in 1998

Pissarro was a “man of the people” with extreme left wing political beliefs and the subject of many of his works are pheasants working on the land
